Soundcloud pays royalty’s

Music service Soundcloud will pay royalties to 20.000 labels, including Epitaph, PIAS and Warp Records. Soundcloud was released in 2008 and they have 175 million users.

Artists can upload their music and users can play it by using the website or an app. It’s a popular app for independent artists and DJ’s who publish remixes. Bands and other artists that are related with a label can use the service as well. But because of rising pressure from the industry, Soundcloud has to pay royalties. Because they now have contracts with 20.000 independent labels, they can stream the music from all the artists who are related with the record labels. Sony Music Entertainment and

Universal Music are not on the list, there is still no deal between them and Soundcloud. Artists get paid because Soundcloud uses advertisement when users play the tracks they want to hear.

The app for Soundcloud can be downloaded in the Google Play Store for your Android device, or in the Apple Store for your iPad or iPhone.
